A fair, reliable, and community-driven shipping system designed for Canadian buyers.
Shipping is one of the biggest challenges in Canada — for buyers and for small businesses.
Rootsy was built to change that.
We created a fair, transparent, shared-cost shipping model so you can support Canadian small businesses without worrying about high shipping fees, and so sellers aren't crushed by carrier costs.
Here's everything you need to know about how shipping works when you shop on Rootsy.
Rootsy does not warehouse or ship items directly. Instead:
Sellers prepare and package your order
Rootsy integrates with eShipper, a trusted Canadian logistics platform
eShipper automatically selects the best carrier (Canada Post, UPS, Purolator, FedEx, etc.)
Tracking updates sync directly to your Rootsy account
This gives you national delivery and consistent tracking across all sellers on the marketplace.
To keep shipping affordable, Rootsy uses a shared-cost model (Shipping Policy Section 3):
Rootsy pays of every shipping cost
Sellers pay
Buyers pay
Why this matters:
We don't believe in shifting the burden to one side.
We believe in sharing the load — fairly.
Typical delivery within Canada:
Ontario / Quebec:
2–5 business days
Prairies:
3–7 business days
BC & Atlantic Canada:
4–9 business days
Northern regions:
6–12 business days
(delivery times may vary during peak holidays or weather delays)
These timelines come directly from our carrier partners via eShipper.
Once your order ships, you will automatically receive:
A tracking number
The carrier name
Real-time tracking updates
Delivery estimates
All tracking is synced through eShipper automatically — Rootsy does not manually update tracking data (Shipping Policy Section 6).
You can also use the Track Your Order page anytime.
A simple breakdown of what happens after you place your order:
They start preparing, packaging, and labeling it.
Through eShipper, automatically.
Or seller drops it off at a carrier location.
Movement updates appear on the Track Your Order page.
Delivered to your door or mailbox.
It's simple, traceable, and coordinated.
Some sellers may offer:
• Local Pickup
• Local Delivery in their neighbourhood
If available, you will see it clearly on the seller's store or product page.
Rootsy does not coordinate local pickup/delivery and is not liable for hand-delivered items (Shipping Policy Section 8).
Canadian shipping is expensive.
That's why Rootsy:
Uses discounted eShipper rates
Shares the cost with sellers and buyers
Helps make nationwide delivery more accessible
Our model is not for profit — it is for community sustainability.
If something goes wrong:
Seller opens a ticket
Rootsy assists with an eShipper claim
Carrier insurance determines compensation
You remain protected throughout the process by the Rootsy Buyer Protection Policy.
(Refund Policy Section 8)
Buyers are responsible for providing accurate shipping information.
If a package is delayed or returned due to an incorrect address, the buyer may be responsible for reshipping fees (Shipping Policy Section 10).
Not yet.
Rootsy currently supports Canadian buyers and sellers only.
International shipping may be added in the future (Shipping Policy Section 9).
We believe shipping shouldn't stop buyers from supporting Canadian small businesses.
That's why we designed a system that:
Is fair
Is transparent
Shares the cost
Supports sellers
Protects buyers
Keeps Rootsy sustainable
This approach helps create a marketplace built on community, not corporate exploitation.
